WESTERN GRADUATE REGIONAL REPRESENTATIVE'S MESSAGE

Adeeba D. Deterville, B.A., is Co-Founder of Sankofa Cultural Institute and a doctoral student at Sofia University (formerly the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology). Her field of study is African-centered Psychology and Spirituality. She is specifically interested in the notion of identity congruency for people of African descent through the application of the Yoruba concept of Ori Ire - "one whose consciousness is aligned with their destiny". Her broader research interests cover several areas including, identity development, wellness, healing, community building, and financial well-being. Adeeba has more than twenty-years experience in the non-profit sector and has worked in the financial services field as a Community Development Officer.
