Jarvis Sams, M.A. is the Student Circle Chair-Elect and is currently a second year doctoral student in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology - Los Angeles Campus. He is serving in his second consecutive year of SC Board tenure which last year saw him as the Student Circle National Convention Co-Chair. Jarvis' area of research and practice focuses on working with underserved and underrepresented families in order to provide them with access to uniquely tailored and culturally sensitive counseling resources. His mission is to ensure healthier relationship outcomes within these communities. Jarvis currently practices/works as an MFT intern in a private practice in Glendale, CA and he also works as Therapeutic Behavioral Services Specialist for Phoenix House specifically working with substance abuse challenged adolescents. He looks forward to utilizing his skills to continue to help the SC as it builds vital and valuable networking pathways that assist and encourage students and future mental health professionals. In his free time, Jarvis considers himself a workout-a-holic specifically playing basketball, running or doing P90x.
