STUDENT CIRCLE CHAIR'S MESSAGE
Greetings Ladies and Gentlemen,
My name is Rosy N. Uzuh, hailing all the way from the awe-inspiring city in the lone star state of Austin Texas, and, I am your 2013-2014 Association of Black Psychologists' Student Circle Chair. I received my B.S. in May 2010 from Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, TX. There I became a sister of The Omega Gamma Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated. Currently, I am a third year Personality Psychology Doctoral student attending Howard University in Washington, DC. As a proud Bison scholar, my research interest revolves around the Psychological Well-Being amongst Black Lesbian and Bisexual young adult women and their Coming out experience.
As Chair of the Student Circle, it is my duty and promise to promote growth within the student circle body. I plan to enhance the lives of others by increasing the exposure of the rich African culture and knowledge of our ancestors by means such as Jegnaship, leadership conferences, scholarship, etc. As a Nigerian, based on my own traveling experiences to some of the giant countries in Africa, I have learned to draw strength from the empowerment of those who have overcome great struggle. It is by learning the very essence of the identity of the African culture that directs our continued purpose of restoration and wholeness among the community. To that end, I want to institute greater development and utilization of student generated mbongis throughout the various student circle chapters. I plan to assist in the development of ABPsi between outside scholars, and professionals so that we may continue to strive for success. This year…the Association of Black Psychologists Student Circle will cultivate in many ways.
My creativity, blissful character, and a desire for knowledge are what encourage me to grow daily into a better person. Proverbs 18:14 says, "The human spirit can endure in sickness, but a crushed spirit who can bear"? It is my intent to continue to uphold the spirit and essence of ABPsi. As Student Circle Chair- I will be faithful, trustworthy, and always eventful; seeking ways to support our peers through ABPsi Student Circle.
