2017 Convention Theme -
Our Roots, Our Future
Afrikan educator and philosopher, Fela Sowande, suggests that "the more deeply and powerfully entrenched our roots are in the soil native to (us), the more able (we are) to weather all storms." The essentiality of connectedness to our Afrikan roots as the foundation for the mental health and the future development and well-being of Black families, communities, organizations, and institutions will be the focus of presentations throughout this convention. Theoretical, research, and clinical presentations that address the importance of cultural rootedness on all aspects of the functioning of people of Afrikan ancestry are invited.
