Chair-Elect:
Gabrielle Johnson
My name is Gabrielle Johnson, and I am the Chair Elect for the 2011-2012 year for the Association of Black Psychologist Student Circle. I am from Northern California, and I am currently a second year PhD student in counseling psychology at Oklahoma State University. I have my B.A. in Psychology and my M.S. in Educational Psychology. My interests include athletic identity and youth. I am looking to work with high school and possibly college athletes of color to find research regarding the impact of athletes being forced into retirement due to injury versus athletes who choose to retire from their sport.
As chair elect, I plan to uplift the chair in her endeavors to revitalize the student circle. I plan to assist in developing stronger connections between professionals and students in their respective regions. I will be working very closely with the regional representatives to obtain a more effective way to keep track of Student Circle chapters as well as help them to find ways to support their peers in hosting events such as regional conferences and forums.
Courage, dedication, and determination, are just a few of the many attributes I bring to the Student Circle of ABPsi. I am here for my peers and executive board to expand ABPsi in ways that we have only imagined.
Peace & Blessings, Gabrielle Johnson M.S.
