  • Have you always wanted to publish your work but you think you would benefit from a chance to discuss how to proceed?
  • Did you promise yourself that you would publish your work this year?

If your answer to any of these questions is yes, then you may want to attend to attend the ABPsi writer’s bootcamp!

**SPACE IS LIMITED TO 15 PARTICIPANTS**

Early career professionals and graduate students don’t miss this opportunity.

Date: Tuesday, July 27, 2010                        Time: 10:00am-5:30pm

The Association has received support from NIDA to invite several individuals with extensive experience to serve as mentors for the day. Even though the mentors will be there to provide guidance and support, participants will spend much of the day working alone, with another participant, or discussing the project with the mentor. A lunch panel is planned that will discuss topics such as:

  1. (1) interpreting and responding to editor feedback
  2. (2) deciding on a journal
  3. (3) order of authorship
  4. (4) establishing writing groups
  5. (5) joining teams of co-authors. At the end of the day, Pam Goodlow, a representative from the special populations office of the National Institute of Drug Abuse, will present on securing federal grants.

Dr. Jacqueline Mattis will serve as one of the mentors. Dr Mattis is the Chair of the Department of Applied Psychology, Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, New York University. Dr. Mattis is an experienced writer and is known to be a great mentor.

Dr. Kathy Burlew is serving as the coordinator of the bootcamp. She is a professor of Psychology at the University of Cincinnati and is a former editor of the Journal of Black Psychology.
