Ramar Henderson

Student Circle - Midwestern Regional Rep:

Ramar Henderson

Hello, My name is Ramar Henderson and I am a native of Southern California. I received my B.A. from California State University Sacramento in sociology.  I am presently a doctoral student at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.  I am currently beginning my program with an aim of continuing to study topics relating to health and multicultural concerns in psychology. Other research interests include professional athlete’s and their performance, mental aspects of racism on African Americans, and qualitative research.

While at California State University Long Beach, I worked as a clinical supervisor at an adolescent group home. I assisted Dr. Kevin Sverduk with applied research examining cognitive behavioral techniques and sport performance.  With the role of the Mid-West Regional Representative I intend to be the voice of my region all the way from Wisconsin to Houston and all areas in between. Moreover, I intend to facilitate qualitative communication between the student and professional members of this organization through the organization of regional conferences. I have a vision that the region can align with the professionals within the organization and foster an environment where both students and faculty can share cutting edge research and further the development of the organization.
