Student Circle - Midwestern Regional Rep:

Taisha Caldwell

Taisha Caldwell is entering her fourth year as a doctoral student in counseling psychology at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. She received her undergraduate degree from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia, but is originally from San Jose, California. In terms of community involvement and research, she has a strong interest in improving the quality of education for all students, but particularly Black/African students. More specifically, she is concerned with strength based research related to early career planning, motivation, cultural mistrust, and academic achievement as it relates to positive mental health and other psychosocial factors that predict success within Black/African students.

As the Midwestern Regional Representative she hopes to provide direction to Student Circles throughout the Midwest. She plans to build a concept model for documenting student circle activity, initiate communication between chapters in the Midwest, increase student membership overall, support fundraising efforts, and promote collaborative research among students in the Midwestern region.
